IS PILATES GOOD FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

If you practice Pilates regularly, it will aid weightloss and change your body shape. Known for creating long, strong muscles and a leaner look, Pilates improves your muscle tone, balances musculature, supports beautiful posture and makes you feel great! It might seem like a paradox, but the more you exercise, the more energy you have. The more energised you are, the more you'll feel like doing your exercise routines, which then promotes restful nights sleep - a great cycle to be in.

DO MEN ATTEND PILATES WITH YOU?

Yes, many men, of all ages and with all levels of fitness, just like women. Men are in the minority most of the time but they don’t care at all, they enjoy the benefits and often continue for years.

WHO CAN PRACTICE PILATES?

Whether you are a senior just starting to exercise, an elite athlete, or somewhere in between, the foundations of Pilates movement apply to you. Building strengh at your core, focusing on proper alignment, and a body/mind integrative approach makes Pilates accessible to all.

I AM PREGNANT / POSTNATAL – CAN I DO PILATES?

PREGNANCY: A suitably tailored pilates routine is a great way to keep exercising through pregnancy as is controlled and low impact. It will keep your pelvic floor and core muscles working well. I am happy to offer private one on one sessions where I can be sure that only safe and effective exercises are performed. I ask that you must have reached the third trimester and have checked with your GP.

POST NATAL: For new mothers, Pilates will help muscles back into place, aiding the body to regain its shape and tone. Everybody has a different recovery time and when they feel ready to return to exercise after giving birth, I always recommend one on one sessions before integrating back to a group class but that is up to the individual. I ask that you infom/check with your GP first.
